I don't remember a time when I wasn't creating.

When I was a little girl, my mom let me cover my bedroom walls with string art made from thumbtacks and colorful thread. Most parents would have asked me to take it down. Instead, she gave me the freedom to create. At the time, she probably had no idea that she wasn't just letting her daughter decorate a bedroom. She was nurturing the little artist inside me and giving me the confidence to dream long before the world had the chance to tell me no.

As I got older, life led me toward a career in healthcare. Art became something I loved, but never imagined could become my profession.

Then, in 2017, everything changed.

I was diagnosed with a benign tumor that was compressing my spinal cord, causing progressive weakness in my legs, hands, and a long list of neurological symptoms. Surgery saved my life, but recovery challenged me in ways I never expected. I had to relearn simple everyday tasks, regain my strength, and trust my body again.

Recovery gave me something unexpected. It gave me perspective.

Instead of asking what I had lost, I began asking what I had always wanted to become.

The answer had never changed.

An artist.

In 2019, I launched String Hart and began creating custom string art name signs for clients across the United States. Before long, my work found homes around the world. With every project, I challenged myself to push the limits of what could be created with thread and nails, eventually transforming photographs into hyper realistic string portraits that became the signature of my work.

Years later, those childhood thumbtacks became thousands of carefully placed nails, and the colorful thread never left my hands.

While string art will always hold a special place in my heart, it has never been the only way I choose to create. I love painting murals that transform ordinary spaces, creating expressive pencil and scribble portraits, and exploring just about any medium that allows me to tell a story and bring joy to the people I create for.

Whether I'm painting a mural, drawing a portrait, or wrapping thousands of strands of thread around carefully placed nails, my goal is always the same. I want my work to make people stop, feel something, and walk away with a lasting memory.

Looking back, I realize those bedroom walls were more than childhood memories. They were the beginning of everything.

Today, I have the privilege of creating artwork for collectors, businesses, families, and communities around the world. Every piece is created with intention, every story is personal, and every project reminds me of the little girl who simply needed someone to say yes.

I'm grateful my mom did.
