About Me

Hi, my name is Tanesha Pitt. I am a contemporary string artist.

My journey into the world of string artistry is not just a career choice—it’s a testament to resilience, transformation, and finding beauty in the midst of life’s challenges. In 2017, I was diagnosed with a benign tumor that was compressing my spinal cord, causing progressive weakness in my legs, hands, and a slew of neurological symptoms. Through surgery, recovery, and relearning even the simplest tasks—like opening a door—I found a fierce determination within me that led me back to a dream I had as a child: becoming an artist.

That journey took me from the medical field into the beautiful chaos of strings and nails. I discovered that if I could capture a person’s essence with a pencil, I could surely do it with thread. So, I traded in my scrubs for an artist’s apron and never looked back.

Each piece I create is more than just art—it’s a piece of my story, intricately woven into every string. The rods and screws in my thoracic spine remind me daily of the struggle I overcame and the beauty that can erupt out of chaos. After countless hours of hammering nails and looping thread, the irony that my body is held together by metal—just like my art—makes me feel deeply connected to every piece I create.

Along the way, I decided to expand my body of work and introduce scribble portraits—expressive pieces created with chaotic yet intentional lines. What started as a personal experiment quickly became a collector favorite. These works complement my string art beautifully, offering a raw, emotional depth through a different medium. It’s still the same message: beauty erupting from chaos.

My hyper-realistic string portraits and emotionally charged scribble works have caught the attention of curators and collectors around the world. I’m humbled by the recognition and grateful for the opportunity to inspire others through my story and my work.

This journey is my second chance at life—and I’m living it in full color, full faith, and full purpose.

Welcome to my dream come true.
Welcome to my art.

Let’s create something beautiful together. 💛

Tanesha
